The Winchester Gate, a popular real ale pub in Salisbury
Searching for a public house in Salisbury that serves quality real ale? Do you enjoy live music? Want the comforting atmosphere of a traditional community pub? How about a game of pool or darts or even petanque?
If you've answered yes to any of the above, then the Winchester Gate is for you. We are the ideal traditional pub to come to as we offer all of these. We are listed in the current CAMRA Good Beer Guide and LocAle accredited. We were our local CAMRA branch's 'pub of the year' in 2010 and 2013, and we have been honoured again by members of the Salisbury & South Wilts Branch of CAMRA, who have voted us their 'pub of the year' for 2016.
Even better, if you are a CAMRA member. If you have your membership card with you, you will get 20p off a pint of real ale or 10p off a half. Just ask at the bar.
Call us now or come and visit us today.
To ring us, you can use our standard BT number - 01722 322834. Alternatively, click on the telephone number on this page and follow the instructions to ring us for free!
The Winchester Gate is located just a few minutes walk from the centre of Salisbury. Head along Winchester Street and go through the subway beneath the ring road. As you emerge the other side, you can't miss us. Fortunately we have a car park, for the designated driver of course!
Real ales and live music
We specialise in real ales and live music. We are a genuine free house so you are always assured of some unusual beers at a reasonable price. We are justly proud of the quality of the ales we serve, and this has been recognised by our being included in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide and being voted pub of the year by the local branch of CAMRA for both 2010 and 2013.
On the music side of things, we have live bands every Friday and on most Saturdays. See our Facebook page for more details - www.facebook.com/winchestergate.
In addition, we have an Open Mic night organised by Pete Leonard on the third Wednesday of each month.
We hold at least two beer festivals each year in May and August, plus we hold a small Winter beer festival, usually in January. We have also started to hold cider festivals - usually in the Spring and in the Autumn.
We do not do much in the way of food, although we (usually) have excellent value filled rolls that generally sell out quickly.
